Use
gold or silver metallic thread depending on your trim color, available
in any fabric store, when any kind of sewing is required. It is
generally thinner than regular thread and tends to blend better
with the beads and sequins. |
 |
Avoid
the frustration of threading frayed edges by folding your thread
in half, and pulling the smooth edge through the needle. |
 |
Always
use clear drying fabric glue on your ornament. NEVER use
super glue, as it will melt the satin fibers on the ornament. This
clear drying glue is available with the accessories
kit offered. |
 |
If
you don't have a glue syringe, use a pin to pick up a small amount
of fabric glue when drawing glue "lines" or gluing knots in the
thread. If you need a glue syringe it is available with the accessories
kit. |
 |
When
removing the pearl or bead from the end of a corsage pin, hook the
pearl with the claw end of a hammer. Grab the pin with a pair of
pliers and pull gently. The pearl should slid right of. |
 |
When
you first open your kit, don't try to separate all of the beads,
pins, sequins, etc. Use a plastic tray, like maybe a Stouffers™
food tray, to pour out all of your beads and pins. Then it is really
easy to see what you have and to get to the items. If you don't
have the hanger attached to your ball yet, simply lay the ball down
in the tray and all of your items stay together. |
 |
After
attaching your ornament's hanger, attach a paper clip to a coat
hanger for hanging your creation. It is always better to hang the
ornament than lie it down. You don't want to knock any of the beads
out of position. |
 |
Use
a coffee mug to hold your scissors, writing pens, pliers and other
tools together in one place for convenience. |
 |
When
tying a knot around a bead, don't tie it too tight or the bead won't
hang straight. You can string the bead on the thread and tie the
thread around a pencil. After securing the knot with a little fabric
glue, simply slide the pencil out and you are left with a nice,
loose loop and your bead will hang straight. |
 |
Use
tweezers to hold small supplies, reach tight areas or help to tie
the knots around pins. |
 |
When laying down beads in glue to form
a straight line, string the beads first on any kind of extra sewing thread. You can then move the threaded
beads along the thread, as needed, to give you a straighter line and easier handling in tight places.

All of the kits
include a full color picture. You can also refer
to the ornament pictures at this
web site for what your ornament is supposed to look like if you
get confused or loose your place with the directions. Sometimes
a picture is worth 1,000 words. We have also added check boxes to
our directions so you won't lose your place |
 |
Take
your time when measuring. It is very important to get the exact
center bottom of your ornament to ensure that it hangs properly. |
 |
Occasionally,
when adjusting the positioning of a bead, the hole created by the
pin gets to big and the pin doesn't want to stay in the ball. To solve this
problem, simply add a small amount of fabric glue up and down the pin shaft
just before you insert it into the ornament. When it dries, it will
be secure. |
